A Blessed and Happy New Year!

Mary Mother of GodHow do we end 2012 and welcome 2013? Our catholic faith celebrates the beginning of the year with the celebration of the solemnity of the Blessed Virgin Mary as the Mother of God! For me it is so providential!
It could be understood by this simple reasoning: if Jesus is God, then Mary is the Mother of God. There is no doubt that Mary is the mother of Jesus. While others may doubt about the divinity of Jesus, we catholics firmly believe that He is God as he revealed Himself to us. So, it follows that Mary is also the Mother of God!
What has this to do with the new year? All of it! First, that time belongs to God. While we are governed by time, God is not! But he chose to enter into time through His Son who was born among us! This reminds us then to sanctify our time by recognizing God’s presence in all our time, if not offer to Him all our time in all that we do! This also reminds us of the eternity of God! He is eternal! Which means our yesterday, our today, and our tomorrow is NOW for God. Most of all, this reminds us of God’s greatest love for us, that He chose to enter into time, taking on a human flesh, born of a woman, becoming one like us, to save us!
With all these in mind, may our New Year 2013 be guided by our strong and mature Faith in Him, filled with the Hope of God’s promise of eternal reward, and powered by the experience of a loving God who wants us to share this LOVE to all! Happy and Blessed New Year to all!
